About Us

Making conscious, informed choices is empowering!

Our mission was to educate Canadians on the benefits of moderation or restraint in the use of alcohol and/or drugs and to encourage everyone to Be The Best You Possible by making a promise not to misuse alcohol and drugs!

About Us

Be You Promise.Org is an organization based in Victoria BC. The primary goal of BeYouPromise.org was to provide  engaging and inspiring preventative educational programs, while discussing the negative consequences associated with addictions and the misuse of substances.

Where Will Your Choices Take You?

The average age of drug use in Canada begins at 15.7 years old.

60% of illicit drug users in Canada are between the ages of 15-24 years of age.

Each year, approximately 5,000 young people under the age of 21 die as a result of underage drinking.

Female addicts are 54% more likely to die prematurely because of their drug use.

The most recent comprehensive cost study in 2002 estimated the total cost of alcohol-related harm to Canadians to be $14.6 billion per year. This figure includes the following annual costs:

$7.1 Billion in lost productivity due to disability and premature death.

$3.3 billion for direct health care costs.

$3.1 billion for direct enforcement costs.

The economic costs including legal enforcement costs, health care costs and lost productivity are staggering. The human costs including physical and emotional pain, hardship, suffering and even deaths are monumental and immeasurable.

BeYouPromise.Org operated independently of government. Funding came from private citizens, corporations, government and other charitable organizations.

BeYouPromise.Org began its mission in the Greater Victoria area. Our vision was to branch out throughout Canada. We believed that education would help to create healthier individuals and families and stronger communities.
